Most privacy tools live in the settings, buried and ignored. I embedded Privacy Trace directly in Gmail's Spam, meeting users at the moment they're already feeling the consequences of exposed data. Spam is where privacy erosion becomes tangible, which made it a far more compelling entry point than other proposed locations, such as Account Settings or a Chrome extension.

PROCESS: BALANCING INFORMATION AND ACTION
Showing someone their data is being sold can easily trigger user anxiety. I facilitated six focus group sessions to design an experience that both informs and empowers, surfacing exactly which data points are at risk while giving clear, actionable steps to remediate. The design had to follow a clear logic framework: calmly inform, responsibly identify, and streamline action.

I designed Privacy Trace when Gemini's product vision was still being internally defined. The biggest lesson: at that stage, a well-framed prototype is more persuasive than a strategy deck. Privacy Trace gave leadership something concrete to react to, which accelerated alignment faster than any roadmap discussion could have. Privacy Trace was ultimately deferred when Gemini's priorities shifted toward Search, but the UX foundation shaped how the team approached Gemini's role in user-first interfaces going forward.
